Proform Power 690 Treadmill

Proform Power 690 TreadmillThe Proform Power 690 Treadmill contains some of the more updated technology that you'll find in any treadmill in this price range. The iFit technology is a big reason for you to consider this mid-price treadmill from Proform. Using iFit, you'll be guided through your daily workout based on the recordings and machine settings designed by a Certified Personal Trainer. Faster pace, slower pace, motivational "kicks in the butt" are all part of the fitness trail you'll be traveling with this Proform Power 690 Treadmill.

Variety is the spice of life and effective workouts. The Proform Power 690 Treadmill offers 16 preset calorie burning workouts and a beefy 2.5 HP motor to keep you rolling. Impact on your joints is reduced by the shock cushioning effect of the Protech tech design. We liked the speed controls and incline control but we'd prefer that the heart rate sensors were off on the side handles. A small point, to be sure, but maybe the guys at Proform will see the suggestion. :)

As with most Proform treadmills, the Power 690 includes the SpaceSaver® Design that allows you to fold the deck of the treadmill into a vertical position to give you a bit more floorspace. I don't know how their average customer experiences useage, but I've found that our folding treadmill typically stays in the "locked and loaded" position ready for our next workout. We're lucky enough to have the floor space, so I suppose anyone living in downtown NY city, in a small apartment would really be the target market on this feature.

The sound system turns out to be not to bad on this treadmill. Often the speakers are such an after thought by the designers that they sound like complete crap. These are no top of the line hi-fidelity jobs, but they don't sound to bad. Not exactly a ringing endorsement? Maybe not, I typically prefer to use my headset and Ipod.

I think it's kind of funny how so many of the treadmill manufacturers have jumped on the "lifetime frame warranty" bandwagon. I think this simply means that they guarantee the steel frame members not to fail. That seems like a good bet. Joking aside, the Proform treadmills are often covered by about the same warranty level. Typically about a year for both parts and labor. The Proform Power 690 treadmill offers exactly that. You can choose to extend the warranty during checkout, so you may want to consider that if you're certain you'll be putting the machine under a heavy useage pattern. If this is your first bit of exercise equipment, I wouldn't worry about the extra warranty on the Proform Power 690 Treadmill.
